About Me

Rainbow and mountains behind an old cabin.

I have been a practising psychologist for over 30 years.

I did my Ph.D. in clinical psychology at the University of Waterloo and my predoctoral internship at Alberta Children’s Hospital. Over the course of my career, I have worked at non-profits, specialized schools, and a pediatric tertiary care hospital, and have worked with children, teens, and adults.

I have provided…

…individual therapy, group therapy, and parent counselling, where I have helped people facing stressful life events, medical challenges, relationship stresses, and mental health and medical diagnoses. In addition, I have supervised provisional psychologists, psychology graduate students, and psychology residents. Furthermore, I have provided many presentations on topics such as adjustment to new diagnoses; responsive feeding; social skills; recognizing, managing and thriving with Attention Deficit Disorder; and Autism Spectrum Disorder.

My practice draws from a number of different therapeutic approaches…

…which focus on examining our thoughts and realizing how they affect our actions and feelings. I’m very practical in my approach, and specifically use cognitive behaviour therapy; acceptance and commitment therapy; emotionally focussed therapy; and mindfulness. While I believe understanding the root of issues is especially important, I also believe that to make progress, it’s important to set goals and move forward.

In my free time…

…I enjoy moments with family and friends, and being outdoors. Cooking and baking—in fact, anything connected to food—are real joys. Reading is a passion, and I love curling up with a good book.
